Decimal Operations

As we begin exploring problem solving with decimals I want you to keep in mind HOW TO problem solve.  The chart below will still come in handy.

NOTE: When you multiply decimals, the product will have a combined total of decimal places from the numbers you are multiplying. (example shown below)


When problem solving with decimals (and any form of numbers) it is VERY important that you make sense of the problem.  Previously you may have been taught to look for specific key words in order to determine which operation to use.  You have seen this year that that method doesn't always work out because some "key words" can be used for more than one operation.



Don't panic...


just make sense of the problem!
