Decimal Operations
As we begin exploring problem solving with decimals I want you to keep in mind HOW TO problem solve. The chart below will still come in handy.
I will continuously update this post with additional resources to help you with decimal operations so please keep checking back!!! Screencasts coming soon!!

NOTE: When you multiply decimals, the product will have a combined total of decimal places from the numbers you are multiplying. (example shown below)
When problem solving with decimals (and any form of numbers) it is VERY important that you make sense of the problem. Previously you may have been taught to look for specific key words in order to determine which operation to use. You have seen this year that that method doesn't always work out because some "key words" can be used for more than one operation.
Don't panic...
just make sense of the problem!

Problem Solving with Fractions
There will be a Fraction Problem Solving Quiz on Friday December 5th for all classes.
To prepare for this quiz you should:
- Review Homeworks and task cards
- Visit TenMarks to complete assignments
- Watch assigned LearnZillion videos
- Review the resources I have posted (even in previous posts)
- Come for extra help during lunch
Here is a general guide for problem solving. If you look at your Mathematical Practices sheet you will see that #1 is the ability to make sense of problems!

Unit 3 Fraction and Decimal Operations
We will be starting Unit
3 Fraction and Decimal Operations this week!
That being said, if you still need help with Unit 2 Ratios and
Proportions come see me for extra help, watch LearnZillion videos, check out
TenMarks and GOOGLE! You can also slip your card into your class "I NEED HELP" folder to request a conference to go over anything you'd like!
Even though we are moving on from Unit 2 we still need to make sure we mastered all of the concepts! We will use proportional reasoning for the rest of the year and you will need it in the future!

I have updated TenMarks
assignments for Unit 3 and have assigned new LearnZillion videos. Make sure sometime in the next month you
watch the LearnZillion videos (some of you still have not signed up and started
watching videos!!!) and if you need the extra practice complete the TenMarks
assignments.
Have I mentioned that my sister's name is Christina? This information could come in handy sometime in the future...
