Welcome to middle school! I must warn you 6th grade can and will be quite challenging; however, you will survive! I will use this blog to keep you updated on math assignments and resources (even games) you can use to improve your math skills at home (or wherever) on your own time. Unless otherwise indicated, the links and resources I post are NOT mandatory (meaning you don't have to check them out) but I recommend you do so especially if you are having difficulty with a specific topic in math class.
The first few days of math class we will discuss various rules and procedures. You will also be taking a Unit 1 Pre-Test and a Diagnostic exam. Your scores on these tests will NOT count towards your grade in my class. Rather, these tests (and all other PRE-tests) will tell me what you already know and what you do not yet understand as well as give you the information you need to create goals throughout each unit and the whole year. For each unit you will take a Pre-Test and a Pre-Assessment. Pre-tests are just multiple choice questions and Pre-assessments are more like short answer tasks (each assessment is ONE task). The Diagnostic exam is a multiple choice test that will cover concepts for all of 6th grade. We will use these results to make goals for the year and to measure your progress throughout the year.
Once all the routine stuff and testing is out of the way we will begin Unit 1. In order to prepare for Unit 1 I suggest you brush up on your Divisibility Rules! The link below goes through each of the Divisibility rules and even has some questions to test your understanding.

We will also be covering GCF (greatest common factor) and LCM (least common multiple). Feel free to check out the websites below!
